Watch the Chaos Unfold This May
A24’s upcoming dark comedy 'Friendship'—written and directed by Andrew DeYoung (555, Ohio, Would it Kill you to laugh?)—presents a sharp, absurd perspective on the despair of suburban life and the challenges of adult relationships. Produced by Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and the film stars Tim Robinson (I Think You Should Leave) as Craig, a hapless suburban dad whose lonely existence spirals into chaos after he becomes obsessively fixated on his magnetic new neighbor, played by Paul Rudd in a rare, delightfully unhinged role.

With Kate Mara and Jack Dylan Grazer rounding out the cast as Craig’s increasingly bewildered family, Friendship blends cringe humor and existential dread as Craig’s attempts at male bonding unravel into disastrous territory—think Fargo meets Step Brothers but with a twisted A24 edge.

Anchored by Andy Rydzewski’s stark cinematography, Keegan DeWitt-composer, and Sophie Corra’s sharp editing, the film promises a surreal ride through manic lawns and midlife meltdowns. Rated R, Friendship hits theaters May 9, 2025—just in time to make you rethink that next neighborly BBQ.
