New York, NY — The dojo doors are swinging open once again as Karate Kid: Legends prepares to hit movie theaters nationwide on May 30, 2025. Uniting generations of martial arts fans, the action-packed drama brings together two of the franchise’s most iconic figures—Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio—in an all-new story that blends tradition, mentorship, and electrifying combat.
Directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber, Karate Kid: Legends tells the story of Li Fong (played by rising star Ben Wang), a kung fu prodigy who moves with his mother to New York City for a fresh start. Adjusting to a new school and unfamiliar surroundings, Li finds comfort in an unexpected friendship with a classmate and her father. But peace proves fleeting when he crosses paths with a ruthless local karate champion, setting the stage for an epic showdown.
As tensions rise, Li seeks guidance from two martial arts legends: his kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and the original Karate Kid himself, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). It's definitely not a fantastic movie, but I still had a good time watching it. The concepts are pretty intriguing, but wow, the pacing was difficult. I had a great time enjoying this with my son.
