Eloise Alterman - I Still Love You

Updated: Jan 6, 2023

Alterman, a self-taught pianist and guitarist grew up in Detroit. Michigan. In her early teens, she began writing soul-baring songs postponing her entrance to the University of Southern California. Then moved to Nashville, Tennessee alone at age 17 to begin her musical career.

Alterman also made a name for herself as a full-fledged music enthusiast early on, from singing on karaoke machines through pursing a songwriting career in Nashville. The aspiring artist was a match just waiting to be lit, with a singing frenzy starting at age 9.

She spent years honing her skills on her own before Carla Wallace of Big Yellow Dog Music signed her and introduced her to Atlantic . On the strength of the music featured on "Sad Bird," which Alterman is now disseminating to the world, Alterman quickly signed with ATCO Records and Full Stop Management from Harry Styles, John Mayer to Meghan Trainor. Wallace was intrigued by the artist and signed her after hearing her brand-new release, Sad Bird, from the aforementioned labels. Sad Bird is a collection of gently improved tracks.

The EP is filled with intimate songs about finding and losing love, healing, and self-discovery, forcing Alterman to step outside of her comfort zone and explore the vulnerable side of her artistic range. It took several episodes of compunction to include all the subject matter in the song before the moving single "Her" emerged. The result is a well-written, sincere song with lyrics that capture the agony of realizing the person you love is in love with someone else. Producing the engaging music video for the song was Grammy Award winner Dave Cobb.

Released - May 6, 2022, "I Still Love You (The 4AM Version)" has a love-centered story with resonant vocals. Eloise Alterman, who is fragile, passionately sings, "You don't love me, but I still adore you." A beautiful piano melody plays in the background as the main instrumentation of this sad song, which is primarily an acoustic guitar being strung. This makes Eloise's incredible vocals, which traverse a variety of notes along the way, stand out. If you haven't already, listen to her songs below; you won't regret it!

I Still Love You Lyrics (Genius)

[Verse 1] I don't know what got me Crying in my coffee Maybe it's the ghost you left here Yours for three September's My plan was forever Don't tell me I'll feel better next year [Pre-Chorus 1] Stuck inside this room, no I can't even move These empty walls are suffocating Now that you don't want me All you do is haunt me Maybe I'm just going crazy [Chorus] How could I be so wrong? How does life just go on ? And how could I sing love songs When none of them are true? 'Cause you don't love me But I still love you [Verse 2] Made it through December I put on your sweater Now it only smells like my perfume Little notes you left me Messages you sent me Holding on to every scrap of you

[Pre-Chorus 2]

Strangers walking past me

Everyone looks happy

I'm here in another universe

Time it doesn't heal shit

You don't get what you give

I just sit here getting worse

[Chorus]

How could I be so wrong?

How does life just go on ?

And how could I sing love songs

When none of them are true?

'Cause you don't love me

But I still love you

[Post-Chorus]

I still love you

I still love you

I still love you

[Bridge]

Are you out there? Do you miss me?

In my dreams you come running home

And you hold me, like you're sorry

For ever letting go

[Outro] How could I be so wrong? And how does life just go on? How could I sing love songs When none of them are true? 'Cause you don't love me Did you ever love me? You don't love me But I still love you
