As part of this investigation, the FDA has taken action to seize thousands of units of the counterfeit product.
In light of these developments, the FDA is advising wholesalers, retail pharmacies, health care practitioners, and patients to carefully inspect the products they have received. It is crucial that any products labeled with lot number NAR0074 and serial number 430834149057,( to see image visit link), are not distributed, used, or sold. It is possible that some counterfeit products may still be available for purchase.
Both the FDA and Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Ozempic, are currently conducting tests on the seized products. At this time, they do not have any information regarding the identity, quality, or safety of these drugs.
Furthermore, analysis of the samples has revealed that the needles accompanying the counterfeit products are also counterfeit. As a result, the sterility of these needles cannot be confirmed, posing an increased risk of infection for patients who use the counterfeit products. Additionally, other confirmed counterfeit components within the seized products include the pen label, accompanying health care professional and patient information, and carton.
