Charlotte Cardin is a Canadian alternative-pop vocalist-songwriter from Quebec. She started her career in modeling at the age of 15, where she participated on numerous public campaigns.
Anyone Who Loves Me was written by Oclair, Jason Brando & Charlotte Cardin herself, released from the album-Phoenix. The album features hits like Passive Aggressive , Meaningless , Daddy, Sex to Me , Good Girl , Sad Girl and Je Quitte
In an interview with Canada's CBC, she explained, 'Anyone who Loves Me' is a song about how difficult it is to be a woman in our society these days and how it's been for a long time. And from my perspective, it's about being a woman that's in the public eye on some kind of level. But I think it's about being a woman in general and how that comes with a lot of injustice, a lot of expectations from other people, a lot of pressure, a lot of judgment. And it's about not wanting to accept that anymore. That's a subject that's been obviously very close to me for a long time.
The song explores control, identity, and conditional love, set against the backdrop of fame, commodification, and rebellion. At its core, it wrestles with the tension between self-erasure to please others and a growing insistence on autonomy.
[Chorus] Tell me what you want me to do...../I'll do it for you...../I'll do it for anyone who loves me......./Tell me what you want me to be......./I'll do it for free......./I'll do it for anyone who loves me
A central idea is the pressure to become whatever others want. The repeated promise to “do it” for those who offer love suggests a transactional dynamic—affection is earned through compliance. This reflects how relationships, fame, or even audiences can demand constant performance.
The “fancy dolls” refrain pushes back against this. Dolls are objects: posed, dressed, controlled. Rejecting that role becomes an act of resistance. The warning that follows reframes vulnerability as potential power—submission has limits.
[Pre-Chorus] Well, you saved me....../Then you made me rich and famous....../Kiss and babies, lies and games....../I died in vain....../Blowin' my own ashes in the wind
[Post-Chorus] We're not your fancy dolls....../You better set us free, or еlse we'll fu45 you up......./We'll fu45 you up......./Wе're not your fancy dolls......./You better set us free, or else we'll fu45 you up....../We'll fu45you up
The pre-chorus depicts success as an external gift: first saved, then transformed into wealth and fame. This language strips the speaker of agency, implying fame is both a rescue and a trap. Phrases about lies, games, and “died in vain” suggest disillusionment—achieving status didn’t bring meaning, only a sense of being used up.
The concept of dispersing one’s own ashes is particularly powerful: it implies a form of self-destruction linked to the creation of one’s own myth, as though identity has been incinerated by the very achievements that were meant to affirm it.
[Verse 2] I rest my case....../Domesticated bitches in Adidas....../And I hired guns, I hired some....../To fake it 'til I make it, baby
Throughout the verses, the speaker reveals contradictions—refined yet impulsive, tamed yet perilous. These contrasts reflect an identity torn apart by societal demands. Hiring others “to fake it” reinforces the idea that authenticity has been replaced by image management.
The chorus reinforces this fracture: the speaker offers themselves freely, but the repetition makes it feel compulsive, even desperate, rather than generous.

[Verse 1]
I rest my case sophisticated
Reckless like I promised
And I had it, then I managed
And you talked me through it
Baby, do it
[Pre-Chorus]
Well, you saved me
Then you made me rich and famous
Living legend, lies and games
I died in vain
Blowin' my own ashes in the wind
[Chorus]
Tell me what you want me to do
I'll do it for you
I'll do it for anyone who loves me
Tell me what you want me to be
I'll do it for free
I'll do it for anyone who loves me
[Post-Chorus]
We're not your fancy dolls
You better set us free, or еlse we'll fuck you up
We'll fuck you up
Wе're not your fancy dolls
You better set us free, or else we'll fuck you up
We'll fuck you up
[Verse 2]
I rest my case
Domesticated bitches in Adidas
And I hired guns, I hired some
To fake it 'til I make it, baby
[Pre-Chorus]
Well, you saved me
Then you made me rich and famous
Kiss and babies, lies and games
I died in vain
Blowin' my own ashes in the wind
[Chorus]
Tell me what you want me to do
I'll do it for you
I'll do it for anyone who loves me
Tell me what you want me to be
I'll do it for free
I'll do it for anyone who loves me
[Post-Chorus]
We're not your fancy dolls
You better set us free, or else we'll fuck you up
We'll fuck you up
We're not your fancy dolls
You better set us free, or else we'll fuck you up
We'll fuck you up
[Bridge]
Doesn't matter, baby
'Cause the sky's a lonely place to be
Ooh-ooh-ooh, it doesn't matter anyways
'Cause the sky is a lonely place
The sky is a lonely place
Tell me, what'd you want me to?
I'll do what you want me to
[Chorus]
Tell me what you want me to do
I'll do it for you
I'll do it for anyone who loves me
Tell me what you want me to be
I'll do it for free
I'll do it for anyone who loves me
[Post-Chorus]
We're not your fancy dolls
You better set us free, or else we'll fuck you up
We'll fuck you up
We're not your fancy dolls
You better set us free, or else we'll fuck you up
We'll fuck you up
