Thomas Christiani, 63, of Mechanicsville, Maryland pass-on from Fatal Car Crash; Police Currently Investigating


According to the initial findings, Christiani's motorcycle was heading south on Mechanicsville Road when it collided with a delivery van that was attempting to turn into a residential driveway. The exact cause of the collision remains unknown, and investigators have ruled out impaired driving as a contributing factor.

The Maryland State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic collision involving two vehicles that took place on Saturday afternoon in St. Mary's County.

The victim has been identified as Thomas Christiani, a 63-year-old resident of Mechanicsville, Maryland. Christiani was the driver and sole occupant of a Honda motorcycle that was involved in the accident.


Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.

At around 5 p.m. on the day of the incident, troopers from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack swiftly responded to the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Mechanicsville Road and Asher Road.


According to the initial findings, Christiani's motorcycle was heading south on Mechanicsville Road when it collided with a delivery van that was attempting to turn into a residential driveway. The exact cause of the collision remains unknown, and investigators have ruled out impaired driving as a contributing factor.


Due to the severity of the crash, Mechanicsville Road had to be closed for over four hours. The Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 – Washington, stationed at Joint Base Andrews in Camp Springs, Maryland, also arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is currently working diligently to determine the exact cause of this tragic incident.
