During this time, those queuing outside the East Village site have restricted access to basic necessities like showers, food, and even bathrooms. When the site closes for the night, a staggering 25% of respondents admitted to sleeping outside or on trains, while only 4% were fortunate enough to find temporary refuge with a family member or friend.
