Fletcher Releases ‘Becky’s So Hot’

Updated: Aug 10, 2022

Cari Elise Fletcher is a US singer-songwriter. After being published in January 2019, Fletcher's breakthrough song "Undrunk" became her first to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number one on Spotify's Viral Chart in the US. She released "Undrunk" on her extended play You Ruined New York City for Me, and according to Mediabase, it was the new artist's song with the fastest-rising pop radio play since 2014. "War Paint," her first song as a solo performer, was made available in June 2015. Her 2016 single, "Wasted Youth," peaked at No. 1 on the Emerging Artist Chart of Billboard.

Various excerpts posted to FLETCHER's TikTok account originally teased "Becky's So Hot." Since Becky's name was previously concealed in these teaser clips, there was some fan speculation about the song's subject matter.

Fans believe that the song is intended for Becky, Shannon Beveridge's current girlfriend and her ex-girlfriend of four years. The S(ex) Tapes - EP, which was recorded during FLETCHER and Shannon's quarantine at COVID-19, was inspired by their breakup. Shannon also photographed, directed, and starred in the music videos for the EP.

The song opens with a devastated Fletcher looking up her ex's IG. Fletcher sings, "Fine, well, I'll tell, I went and stalked her/ And I don't really blame you because / Damn, the waist (The waist), the hips (The hips), the face, this is awkward," but the energy begins to change as he continues. Becky, who was formerly considered to be a complete lady, is now being reduced to a wet fantasy. However, this is modest enough to pass for a crude complement woven inside a more complex composition. However, let's go on.

"Becky’s So Hot" released July 20, 2022, was written by FLETCHER her self, Kinetics, Pink Slip, One Love and t.A.T.u. This song, is a follow-up to "Her Body Is Bible," is the second single from her debut album. Girl Of My Dreams, executive produced by Malay (Frank Ocean, Lorde), exposes her inner world more freely than ever before while chronicling the profoundly transforming encounters she had on her quest for self.

[Verse 1]

I wake up, puttin' makeup on a sad face

And Listerine ain't fixing this bad taste in my mouth

Someone saw you out on Friday, saw you walking sideways

Guess you're gettin' fucked real good now

[Pre-Chorus]

And I don't really blame you 'cause

Damn, the waist (The waist), the hips (The hips), the face, this is awkward (Ooh, ooh)

[Chorus]

Are you in love like we were?

If I were you, I'd probably keep her

Makes me wanna hit her when I see her

'Cause Becky's so hot in your vintage t-shirt

Ooh, she's the one I should hate

But I wanna know how she tastes

I kinda wanna hit her when I see her

Becky's so hot in your vintage t-shirt

[Verse 2]

I can't even be that mad about it, she flame emoji, wow

It's always gonna fuck me up 'cause

[Pre-Chorus]

And I don't really blame you 'cause

Damn, the waist (The waist), the hips (The hips), the face, this is awkward (Ooh, ooh)

[Chorus]

Are you in love like we were?

If I were you, I'd probably keep her

Makes me wanna hit her when I see her

'Cause Becky's so hot in your vintage t-shirt

Ooh, she's the one I should hate

But I wanna know how she tastes

I kinda wanna hit her when I see her

Becky's so hot in your vintage t-shirt

[Instrumental Break]

[Bridge]

Becky's so hot, hot

Becky's so hot

Becky's so hot, hot

Becky's so hot

[Chorus]

Are you in love like we were? (Are you in love like we were?)

If I were you, I'd probably keep her (Probably keep her)

Makes me wanna hit her when I see her ('Cause Becky's so hot)

'Cause Becky's so hot in your vintage t-shirt

Ooh, she the one I should hate (She's the one)

But I wanna know how she tastes (How she tastes)

I kinda wanna hit it when I see her

Becky's so hot in your vintage t-shirt
