Chronic truancy rates elevated among specific student demographics in New Jersey, even after the pandemic

Last school year, in Newark, the largest district in the state, approximately 12.7% of students were persistently absent. However, in Millburn, one of the wealthiest districts in the state, the percentage dropped to just 8.8%. Shockingly, economically disadvantaged students faced an even higher rate of chronic absenteeism, reaching 14.3%.
